The New Taipei Art Museum in Yingge features a very large exhibition space, outdoor exhibition spaces, and park area near the Dahan River. The main building features a metal reed-like outside appearance, and nearby is a giant ceramic tower in the shape of a pot. Opening in 2025, it is connected to nearby bike trails, making it an excellent area for cycling.

Here are some top travel tips for you:

Historical Background:

The New Taipei City Art Museum is a public art museum in Yingge District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, operated by the New Taipei City Government. Located near Yingge Railway Station and the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum, the museum occupies a 32,397-square-meter site along the Dahan River that was previously redeveloped from riverbed land into a recreational area. Plans for the museum began in 2007 as part of a broader waterfront cultural development project. Designed by architect Kris Yao, the building’s vertical tubular exterior is inspired by reeds along the river and incorporates ceramic materials to reflect Yingge’s pottery industry while improving energy efficiency. The area had already functioned as an arts space with public art installations and artist residencies before construction began in 2018; the outdoor park opened in 2023, the museum institution was formally established in 2024, and the museum held trial operations in April 2025 before officially opening to the public later that month.

Our Journey:

I have been to the New Taipei Art Museum twice, and I had a great time. I also rented a Ubike and rode around the biking trails in the area. The biking trails along the Dahan River are really worth exploring. I highly recommend it. The art museum is also very interesting, especially depending on what exhibits are there.

First of all, we checked out the new Yinge MRT station, which had not yet opened when we visited, but should be open by the time this blog is published.

There is a big skybridge that connects the MRT to the art museum.
