Historical Background:
Sanhe Night Market is a well-known Taiwanese night market located on Zhongyang North Road in Sanchong District, New Taipei City, named after its intersection with nearby streets and stretching about 800 meters in length. It is closely tied to the Sanchong Central Public Retail Market, functioning as a traditional market during the day and transforming into a lively night market in the evening, open daily from 5:00 PM to midnight. The market offers a wide variety of popular Taiwanese street foods such as oyster omelets, stinky tofu, fried chicken cutlets, scallion pancakes, and bubble ice, along with small retail shops. Our Journey:
I have been to Sanhe Night Market countless times. My wife grew up in Sanchong, and we have frequented the night market often. There are endless food options here, and also many clothing shops and other shopping choices. If you are a night market connoisseur, your night market experience will not be complete until you visit this one. It is one of the biggest night markets in Greater Taipei because of its length. Wouldn’t a night market this long get boring and repetitive? No, because literally hundreds of thousands of people live in Sanchong.
Another thing about Sanchong you should know is that most of the residents relocated here from southern Taiwan, in rural areas such as Yunlin. Many of the people brought with them gang affiliations for protection, so the area is known for being a bit shady.

This is the covered walkway on Zhongyang Road coming from the south.

Here you can see the first glimpse of the neon sign showing the name of the night market.

The first and most prominent stall we visited was a milk tea stand.

There was also a fried chicken stall and other shops that continued onward.

Near the entrance to the stall is Johngyang Market, which is a vegetable market during the day which sprawls along the alleyway as well.

Mochi and stinky tofu.

Another view looking back at the main entrance.

Candy and clothes.

Higher up view of the night market from Jhongyang Market.

The further down the night market you wander, the more clothes and accessory shops you will find.

Endless wall of accessories.

Towels and fragrances.

More candies.

More clothes and accessories.

More clothes and a pineapple drink shop.

This part of the night market widens out a bit and there are quite a few more food options.

I think this is also a scallion pancake stand.

And we finally made it out the other end! That was a long night market. It was one of the longest night market walks I have ever done. Truly a huge night market with lots of choices.
